For beginners, trying to figure out how to start and which platform to install is a nightmare. The choice is tough with so many choices available out there. So I decided to lay down a basic difference of the localhost server platforms available to make your task easier. In this article, I have discussed basic difference between WAMP LAMP MAMP and XAMPP.

XAMPP and WAMP are both dominant packages for web development and local hosting. Both packages are composed basically of the supporting operating system(s), a local server, a database, and programming language(s). XAMPP and WAMP Server are probably the most popular Apache server applications available. WAMP Server can be more tricky to troubleshoot because it has no user interface although changing port 80 is easier now than in older versions. Run the WAMP Manager program and the tray icon will be orange if Apache hasn’t started due to the conflict. Although those three parts are the most known, XAMPP can install other utilities such as PHPmyAdmin, OpenSSL, PERL or Webalizer, so you'll be able to have a full-featured server without having to work a lot. No matter if you are installing a local server for tests or if you are instaling a real online web server, XAMPP is the easy way to do it. Nothing like a XAMPP stack, WampServer is only available just for Windows working framework. It comprises of the essential virtual products for running a web server, for example, Apache, PHP, MySQL, and PhpMyAdmin. WampServer can be utilized on Windows PCs to run sites and apps coded in PHP programming language.

All the application servers: WAMP, LAMP, MAMP and XAMPP is a complete package containing PHP, MySql and Apache Server. Each one can be installed separately which will work fine as well, but the installation of these packages is much faster and simpler than installing them one by one.
WAMP, LAMP, MAMP and XAMPP acts as local servers which are used to develop PHP website on localhost.

The primary difference between WAMP, LAMP, MAMP and XAMPP is of the operating system. WAMP is used for Windows, LAMP for Linux, MAMP for Mac and XAMPP can be used for any operating system.

Xampp Versus Wamp

1. Create a cron.php file (the code you want to execute at a regular interval)

2. Create a CRON.BAT file, copy and past the below code in the file
D:xamppphpphp.exe D:xampphtdocsApplicationcron.php

The path I have written is according to my xampp and cron.php file, update the path of files according to your system directory
